Attention

Why a release window is short but the plan behind it should not be

Starting early, building in phases and keeping the conversation alive after opening weekend.

A film gets a few weeks of attention. The mistake most campaigns make is treating those weeks as the whole campaign, when they are only the part the audience sees.

Start before there is anything to show

The trade, the exhibitors and the critics form an opinion long before the trailer drops. The quiet phase, when the only assets are a title and a cast, is when the framing gets set. Miss it and you spend the loud phase correcting a story someone else told.

Build in phases, not bursts

Announcement, first look, audio, trailer, pre-release, opening weekend. Each phase should hand a clear question to the next one. When every beat is treated as a standalone burst, the campaign peaks six times and never accumulates.

Keep talking after the opening weekend

Word of mouth is a second campaign with a different audience. The second week is where honest reviews, cast conversations and the long tail of streaming interest get won or lost.
